In 6 years, you'd think the cross-cultural linguistic challenges between my wonderful gPeeps and I would be well and truly done and dusted. I learned my Americanese the authentic way back in the 70's and 80's - Eight is Enough, Happy Days, Friends. How hard can it be? Alas it appears that I have learned nothing.
It actually seems to be getting worse so I have decided to document each of them as I go.
Today's word: "Interstate"
Usage: "Is Gilly interstate today?"
Bewildered colleague's response: "No, Gilly isn't a highway."
What I was asking: "Is Gilly traveling today?".
I could write book here people...
