Simmo is a great school friend from Sydney and an amazing eco-architect. He has been working on our new gHQ.
He is here this week to do some final tweaks before the installation starts. Concerned about the hat but otherwise, he is in good form. NOte the toilet in the back ground - appropriate given the nature of the business...
We are moving out of the old 1890's home we (the founders& family) share with the business (including 13 staff!) and moving into the old Standard Dairy on NE MLK & Graham.
Our onsite daycare which now cares for 12 of our kiddos will be run by a separate company - Growing Seeds.
They will take the first floor and will care for 75 kids - a great proving ground for new products and keeping our family friendly values as we expand.
Today Kim walked newer members of the team through some of the space. We should be in by June 1. The Dairy is unbelievably green featuring geothermic heating / cooling thanks to a well beneath the building and we are looking at PV's on the roof to offset our energy use.
While it is exciting to move into our first real offices in four years, it will involve a commute each day and actually getting dressed each morning. This could be problematic.
