Day three and we are wrapping up one of our most successful Expo's ever. Existing customers and consumers are happy and new interest from unexpected places. Just wish it was a smidge warmer as we failed to get that Bondi Beach effect happening.
The gTeam here at Anaheim are falling like flies. We have had terrific traffic to the booth but immune systems are down and we are all running on a diet of Emergencee and green tea. Hoping for a quick recovery...
The team has arrived. The booth finally arrived and is built and last night we had a quick pre-Expo cocktail. David Sawyer, our Chief Culture Officer - one of the most important hires a company can make - also joined us.
The Hilton in Anaheim has been renovated (at last!) and filling up quickly with natural products people. Kimmy and I had a great meal with Gil & Andy from our Board last night. Today we have yet more meetings before connecting with Michelle who is co-ordinating the booth build. Kate and Karen will also be joining us as will Tyler and Neal just for Saturday.
We have lots of new news to share with our customers and the industry. It will be a great 4 days.
Kim and I are scrambling around the house tonight with the boys asleep, getting ready for Expo West. We fly tomorrow and are back Sunday. Kim's Mum is flying in from Toronto at 11 pm tonight to look after the kids. The joy of a family-run business! Colleagues Kate, Karen, Michelle are also coming with Neal and Tyler dropping in in Saturday. It's quite the production!
She is bringing the boy's cousin, Ashton in tow, so the kids will barley miss us!
We have kept a journal since we landed in the US in 2004 and it is funny looking back at each of the Expo's. Each of them was special in its own way. We have been developing a pilot for a reality show based on a list of fairly comical Expo characters. It is 5 years in the making and will never see the light of day but it's fun to play! Expo East 2008 (in October) was a particularly quiet one and I suspect this Expo will also be slow. Time will tell. If it IS slow, I am challenging neighboring booths to some indoor cricket. I have a bag full of Tim Tam's as prizes...
I found an interesting little documentary series on Hulu called Wall Street Warriors. Interesting in these times as we all question their world and because my first job out of Uni was on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Yes, I can't believe it either.
