After 3 years of trying to figure out how to stop emails managing me, I have finally found the solution. And it all happened by accident.
I took break Down Under in January. On previous trips home, if I even thought about turning on my iPhone, I would get charged mercilessly for roaming and Dawn in Finance would call me (on my land line) to tell me to get off the phone. So this time, the phone stayed in the US. I used my 5 year old Sony /Ericsson mobile with absolutely no functionality bar the address book. So I couldn't check email and in two days I was a fully recovered Crackberry head. But I kinda missed the music, the photos, the TV shows...all the entertainment that Mr Jobs delivers us.
So on my return to the US, I killed the email on my iPhone. Oh the irony. And then a week later I slightly tweaked it. I can send email from my phone but I can't receive.
The results are brilliant. More focused thought, more disposable income, a faster car, lower bad cholesterol count, less belly fat, a fuller mane...I could go on...
