This is a great story of a terrific brand. A story not well known here in Niketown, Oregon...
My good mate Marns in Charlotte got me to this great site. A great expose on brands as diverse as adidas, Ikea, Alessi, Kate Spade and even Playboy. Terrific food for thought.
This morning saw a frenzy of activity at Daddy Types. I was bumming around looking at stats on visitors to this blog and saw that one referrer site was Daddy Types. I took a peek and saw a very familar picture of a very familiar diaper. And there was a post from the host. So I blogged and then 10 others blogged and, well blow me down Web 2.0 is alive and well. And then the emails started coming and some of those folks then went back to blog at Daddy Types again. Simple!
All I know is that couch better have been cleaned post Tom's jumping episode before we get near it.
Count down clock is on to launch. Anyone actually reading this maybe wondering - didn't you launch in Spring/Summer/October 1/October 24? Well we tried but all good things take time. That's the excuse we're running with this week!
We are a long way from Sydney, Australia Toto, but its all worth it. Kim and I have spent the better part of two years preparing for this. The product, the licensing deal, the business plan, the Australian investors, Kim becoming an Australian for our US visas, getting our US visas, packing up the house, finding a house, car and nanny all on www.craigslist.com (gawd I love that Craig bloke) and finally getting here to bootiful Portland, Oregon. Home of a fierce rivalry...the almighty Beavers and the angry Ducks. I had to become a Duck because their colours are the same as the almighty Wallabies - Australia's rugby union team.
The porpoise of this blog is to keep a record of our adventures here in the US - particularly the business of starting up a business in these post dotcom days where business models actually count and a hand puppet at Superbowl does not maketh a marketing strategy ( damn it, I loved that idea).
