10 years ago today Fynn swam into the world in the living room of our Bondi apartment in a blow-up pool.
We started the morning early with 4.30am contractions. We got up and went for a walk on the beach at dawn. At the furthest point away from our apartment at the south end of the beach, contractions quickened. A fellow beach walker who happened to be an ObGyn watched Kim's gait and suggested we head to the hospital.
I ran back to the north end of the beach and into Billy's cafe to ring the midwife. We all met back at our place and it was game on. Well, we thought it was game on. We didn't know then that it would be a 19 hour game! But what a day. In glorious Spring sunshine we spent the day in the backyard and in different rooms of our little apartment labouring away. Dad sat in amazement watching our midwife at work as he filled the pool for Kim. As a doctor he hadn't seen this style of birth for many years! The same can also be said for my Mum who was an ObGyn.
Mohican, our trusty dog woke to his first cry when he arrived. The pup came over to give Fynn an
approving lick and headed back to bed.
All up a life changing day for us.
10 years on and so much has happened. A second son, a new country and a new business.
