After 3 weeks in Sydney dealing with the work visa renewal process, a sticky situation with our home back there and very foul winter weather etc., we are finally back in the US in one piece (although we did get an eviction notice when we landed - our landlord is upside down on not one but nine houses...solid).
Renewing the visa is quite the ordeal with all the wonderful bureaucracy that all Governments revel in. The fee is payable at any Post Office. If you have an interview before 9am, then you have to wait until the PO is open and then go back to the Consulate - to get stripped searched for a second time before brekky! But to pay the fee, no debit card, credit card or cheques are accepted. It HAS to be cash, preferably unmarked dollar bills or gold krugerrands.
I really think the business is much better off without us in the country. The team just keeps on keeping on. Kudos to them.
Summer in the middle of the year is still foreign to me (what do you mean you are going on vacation? The year is only 7 months old!) but the kids are thrilled. Fynn is off to golf camp this week and then to Canada to do a cross country road / camping trip with his grandparents and cousin in August. This will allows us a whole month with just Harper so that will be good.
And the arrival of the iPhone 4 has been terrific. Sure I can't make or receive calls thanks to the death grip but I don't need a Flip any more that's for sure. Check this video out:
