Kim & I and the boys made it back to Sydney in one piece thanks to Qantas' impeccable service. The iPad went well on its first real test. We went to our interview at the US Consulate to get our visas renewed (a ritual every two years). It is a process fraught with danger as the rules are constantly changing. I have a 3 year degree (all degrees in Australia are 3 years) To get the visa I need, I actually need a 4 year degree. But I have enough business experience to make up for that one missing year. But it's up to the interviewer on the day to make that call. And then there's the logistics. You need to pay $500 per application. And you pay it not at the Consulate but at the Post Office. And you can't use a credit card or a cheque. You need cash. And so if you do a visa cash advance and you have a $500 daily limit and you need $1500 for the three of us (Harper is yank so doesn't need a visa) you are somewhat screwed. But that all worked out.
The interviewer asked if there were any other Australians working at gDiapers. I said no. My Australian wife who is the co-founder of gDiapers and its' President landed a firm boot to the back of my head. (I was tired? I don't know) The interviewer suggested marriage counseling at the next window. We took it. We are still married.
So now we wait for the Consulate to send us our passports and visas. We are doing that waiting with the whole family up in Queensland on the Great Barrier Reef. And while we wait, I am told by my Mum, wife, brother and sister that if I so much as think about work, bad things will happen (something about a Box Jellyfish attack).
So adios for now.
PS: The photo proves Bieber fever has hit Australia. Fynn's new BFF is sporting the same do.
